“Inspiring awe as to beauty”
Sublime is dedicated to consistently providing high customer satisfaction by rendering excellent customer service and offering the best in beauty accessories in a stimulating environment. Sublime is located in Historic Downtown Valdosta at 112 N Patterson St.
Sublime was established by Oliver and SueAnn Barratt in October of 2003. Sublime is currently owned by Oliver and Sueann, with SueAnn as lead stylist, teaching all new stylists from the ground up, while Oliver is the General Manager of the salon. Kylie Steele is the assistant salon Manager. Alison Thomas, Emily White, Annabeth Purvis, and Aldine Warner are all Stylists in the salon. Casey Nolan is a stylist in training, enrolled in our apprenticeship program.
The attitude of the salon can be summed up in this mission statement:
“Here at Sublime our team is dedicated to bringing you a fun and creative atmosphere while providing you with the best services and products available. It is our goal to combine technical excellence with innovation so each client leaves feeling positively Sublime.”
After purchasing the building, Oliver and Sueann set out to design the space to accommodate the needs of a salon. The existing interior walls were taken down and the building was completely gutted to reveal the original brick, giving the salon an inner city feel while also preserving the structure. Cleaning and painting preserved the original Tin ceiling in the downstairs. A large part of the styling furniture and cabinets were custom made by Oliver to meet the needs of the salon and to achieve the desired look. The design of the interior structure, custom mirrors, furniture, general construction and remodeling responsibilities were also handled by Oliver. The placement and selection of salon fixtures and furniture fell under care of SueAnn.
Oliver and Sueann set out to create a salon where stylists would perform services with technical excellence, customer service, and a willing attitude. After completing Business Immersion I, at Bbu(the Bumble and bumble university in NYC) Oliver was better equipped to set up the daily running of the salon. After much deliberation, SueAnn chose the name “Sublime” for the salon.
SueAnn chose Bumble and bumble as the hair care line that Sublime would use and sell exclusively. Bumble and bumble is a New York based hair product created by Michael Gordon to meet his needs and the needs of the editorial stylists under his direction. Sublime is an exclusive Bumble network salon. In March 2014 the team at Sublime decided to make the transition to Oribe, a product line based on the same principles as the early Bumble and bumble. Oribe products perform like no other. Check out the Oribe website for current product info.
Sublime offers a variety of services ranging from Hair cuts and colors to Hair extensions, and body sugaring.
We believe the key to quality work on a consistent basis is education. Classes are held semi-weekly for all new stylists and apprentices.
Continuing educational classes are held on a regular basis(3 hours per month) in the salon to keep all stylists on staff up to speed on current fashions and trends in the industry. Sublime also sets a minimum for out of the salon training at 4 days per year.
The stylists at Sublime have and continue to attend classes in New York at various locations. They attend hands on cut and color classes at the Wella studio in Rockefeller plaza. They also attend advanced scissor cutting, razor cutting, color, and current styling classes.
Body Sugaring :
The stylists at Sublime are trained and certified as Alexandria Professional Body Sugar practitioners. Body sugaring is a gentler, safer method of hair removal than waxing and proves healthy for the skin
Sugaring offers numerous unique and diverse benefits. The most important advantage is very fundamental: the Alexandria™ technique extracts hair in its natural direction of growth and does so when the hair is still in the early growth stage (referred to as the anagen stage).
The Alexandria sugar paste is a 100 percent natural, safe and gentle solution to hair removal for women, men, and children. The art of professional body sugaring has grown in popularity in salons and spas over the past decade.
Community service is a central part of our business here at Sublime. Over the past few years we’ve done everything from donating gift cards for local charity auctions to teaming up with sororities to help fight breast cancer. In the spring of 2010 we participated in our first ever MDA Lock- up, where one of our staff was “arrested” to help raise money for Jerry’s Kids. After the BP oil spill in the gulf, we were able to join the clean up effort by collecting and donating hair to the Matter of Trust Organization, who would use it to make booms.
It’s important for us to stay actively involved with local groups and charities, and we are always looking for new opportunities to help make a difference. In a business that is mainly based on beauty we want to make sure we remind people that beauty really starts on the inside.
Our Promise :
Part of the basic philosophy at Sublime is that we are a team of professionals . We work together in the interest of our clients to offer our finest work, our best service, and a warm friendly atmosphere at all times.
Sublime is more than merely a place of business. It is a salon employing professional stylists. Everything we do, everything we say, and the way we look reflects our respect for beauty of all kinds.
